A rare combination of powerhouse vocals, superb
stage presence and confidence along with the polish
of a seasoned professional is a fair description of
Sheila Deck. She has an outstanding grasp of her
considerable abilities and shares them without
hesitation with the radio listener and live audience
alike. Sheila's debut CD "Too Many Melodies Ago"
grabbed country music listeners from one end of
Canada to the other and her music made a huge impact
abroad as her European listeners were equally
captivated. Five songs were release to radio and all
five were received enthusiastically. Her first
single broke the top 50 on Record.
When Sheila was an emerging young artist she
entered the national CCMA Budweiser Talent Search.
Sheila rose to the top of an amazing pool of talent
and won first place over hundreds of contestants. As
part of the prize package she received an all
expense paid trip to Nashville to appear on the
classic "Ralph Emery Show" on TNN.
The year following the release of her debut CD,
Sheila won top honors in her field and took home the
Saskatchewan Country Music Association's Female
Entertainer Of The Year.
Sheila continues to perform throughout Western
Canada, after taking a hiatus for the birth of her
daughter Carly. Sheila has been repeatedly invited
back to be the voice of Saskatchewan for the Grey
Cup (Rendezvous Regina) celebrations in Winnipeg,
Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Regina. She was
also invited to represent Regina at the annual
summer exhibition as the sparkling "Pemmican Pearl"
from 2001 through 2003.
Now that Sheila's daughter is a bit older, Sheila
is driven towards the stage again to follow her
life's calling. For the last year she has been
performing at cabarets, socials and dances around
the southwestern part of Saskatchewan and is getting
ready to enter the recording studio.
Sheila is preparing the material for a second CD.
She has been working hard at writing her own songs
for the project and has been co-writing with some of
the best songwriters in western Canada. |
